Game Modes

The Arena

The main single-player campaign. Fight through 46 waves of enemies with a boss every 5 waves, following a Victorian class ladder from The Mudlark to Queen Victoria. You have 3 lives, and bonus stages appear after select boss fights where you smash porcelain busts for extra Shillings.

The Promenade

A side-scrolling beat-em-up through the streets of Victorian London. Walk left-to-right through 10 tiers of gaslit streets, each with unique parallax backgrounds, ambient atmosphere, and environmental details. Smash breakables for health drops, pick up and throw 15 types of period-appropriate street objects, and face the same 10 bosses in their own territory. Features procedural per-tier music, bust-smashing bonus stages every 3 tiers, a combo counter, and a save/continue system. Shillings earned carry over to the Brawl shop.

Vs. (1 Player)

A Street Fighter-style ladder of best-of-3 fights against mobs and unlocked bosses. Features wide HP bars, a 99-second timer, and three dramatic finishing moves: the Gentleman's Duel (revolver), the Hat Pull Uppercut, and The Gallows.

Vs. (2 Player)

Local head-to-head combat. Two players face off in best-of-3 rounds on a flat arena with stage hazards (falling chandeliers, lightning bolts, rolling logs) that spawn every few seconds.

Survival

Endless waves of enemies that scale in difficulty over time. Mini-bosses appear every 5 minutes. How long can you last?

The Private Collection

Two prestige modes for gentlemen of proven mettle. Boss Rush: defeat all 10 bosses back-to-back with no riffraff in between — unlocked after clearing The Arena. Battle Royale: play as any boss and fight through the ladder with Tushyman himself as your final opponent — unlocked after clearing Vs. on Brutal difficulty.

Difficulty Levels

  • Gentle — Enemies have 70% health, deal 50% damage, and block rarely. Weapons drop every wave. Stamina costs are free. Perfect for a relaxing bout.
  • Proper — Standard balance. The intended Victorian experience.
  • Brutal — Enemies have 125% health, deal 130% damage, and block frequently. Weapons drop every 3 waves. Stamina costs are 50% higher. For those who truly wish to suffer with dignity.

Brawl Weapons

Six weapons drop from the sky during combat, each with light and heavy attacks:

  • Umbrella — A reach weapon. Light attack pokes at 65px range. Heavy attack sweeps wide and stuns.
  • Plunger — A power weapon. Slow but devastating. Heavy attack slams for 28 damage with a long stun.
  • Top Hat — Speed and style. Fast light attacks. Heavy attack throws it as a boomerang.
  • Cane — Long-range poking. Heavy attack is a lunging thrust.
  • Peach Bag — Projectile. Light attack smacks. Heavy attack throws a peach.
  • Revolver — Six shots of devastating ranged damage. Light attack pistol-whips. Heavy attack fires a bullet at 1200 pixels per second. Once all six shots are spent, the revolver breaks.

Parlour Mode Weapons

Fourteen steampunk weapons spawn during Parlour mode matches:

  • Blunderbuss — 12 shots, 7-pellet cone spread. Devastating at close range.
  • Tesla Pistol — 15 charges of chain lightning that arcs between nearby players.
  • Rocket Cane — 8 arcing rockets with smoke trails. Creates explosions on impact.
  • Aether Rifle — 10 instant-hit beam shots with a brief charge-up. The sniper.
  • Grenade Clock — 8 timed explosives that destroy breakable platforms.
  • Flametongue — Continuous flame cone for area denial.
  • Seeker Blunderbomb — 4 homing rockets that track opponents.
  • Phonograph Horn — 6 sonic blasts from a Victorian gramophone bell.
  • Grappling Cane — 4 shots of a hooked cane that pulls things closer.
  • Steam Hammer — Massive knockback on hit. Can be thrown for a spinning meteor slam.
  • Coil Halberd — Full-body reach with quick jabs and wide sweeps. Throwable as a javelin.
  • Brass Knuckle-Duster — Rapid-fire punches with a steam gauge that builds to a devastating fifth hit.
  • Anchor Chain — Enormous reach. Drops through platforms when thrown.
  • Æther Cutlass — The highest damage melee weapon in the game at 27 damage per strike.

Tips and Strategies

  • Learn to dodge. The invincibility frames during a dodge roll will save your posterior more often than blocking.
  • Watch for boss phase transitions at 66% and 33% health. New attacks unlock and bosses become more aggressive.
  • Biscuits (health drops) heal 25 HP. They spawn on 20-hit combos and have a 10% chance to drop on boss phase changes.
  • In Survival mode, keep moving. Enemies scale over time and standing still is a death sentence.
  • The Revolver is the most powerful weapon in Brawl, but only has 6 shots. Make them count.
  • In the Parlour, vertical space is your friend. The arena has three stacked zones — use the height to escape and reposition.
  • Grab and throw enemies off platforms in the Parlour for quick ring-out kills.
